The Chancellor鈥檚 Office requires all CSU students, faculty, and staff traveling internationally on University Business to obtain International Travel Insurance through CSU鈥檚 recognized carrier. Please contact the Risk Management office for additional details.

Traveler should understand the risks of their destination and have an early awareness as to the destination鈥檚 status if a "high risk destination" or not. The following resources can aid in such awareness:

For War Risk Countries (President and Chancellor approval required) a security plan is required.

Note: For 鈥渉igh risk destinations", plan for extra time 鈥揳 minimum of 30 days should be expected to process the approvals and insurance underwriter to bind coverage.

  1. Complete Travel Authorization Request Form (TARF)
  2. The insurance underwriters require additional information to bind coverage. Please attach all documentation to travel request.
    • Completed TARF with all signatures: President/Provost/Deans
    • One U.S. Emergency Contact (name and email)
    • Hotel Reservation
    • Itinerary of Conference/trip
    • Flight Reservations
  3. President鈥檚 Office approvals is required for the insurance company to bind coverage.
    • Email completed TARF and additional information to Safety & Risk Management: mgarza42@csub.edu
    • Requests made to Safety & Risk Management with less than 30 business days鈥� notice will not normally be considered
  4. Allow for at least 15 business days to process insurance request
  5. The traveler will receive an email that coverage is bound
  6. If travel is cancelled, the traveler must notify Safety & Risk Management at mgarza42@csub.edu or jlane1@csub.edu as soon as possible to cancel coverage and avoid unnecessary premium costs to the university/department

20 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE when traveling to Hazardous Countries, and 7 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE when traveling to Non-Hazardous Countries.
