Teaching in ITV
Faculty Services
Both Bakersfield and Antelope Valley offer the same teaching technologies. Each pair of rooms offers the same equipment but have different ameniteis.
Bakersfield Campus - The Bakersfield site does not offer any printing, proctoring, collection, or ditribution setvices from Academic Technology personnel. If you need materials handled or exam monitoring you will need to handle those needs yourself or with the aid of your department. If you need assistance tailoring your instruction for ITV or with the classroom technology, Academic Technology staff willbe happy to assist.
Antelope Valley Campus - The Antelpe Valley (AV) campus does offer Proctoring, Printing, and material handling. For more infomation on those items please email avitv@csub.edu. If you use scantrons please be aware that they are not available to students in Antelope Valley. You will need to pre-aquire them and mail the answer sheets to Antelope Valley for distribution. Any materials collected from AV will be mailed to your main campus office or department office as listed in the campus directory.
Recordings services are generally available on request. Academic Technology staff reccomends talking with us first before you start lecture captureing to make sure you are able to record your desired items. Otherwise ITV can generally recordin in one of two modes. You are welcome to launch Zoom from the classroom desktop computer and lecture record from there or in some cases you can use the ITV local recorder. The local recorder will record only the content material and vocies. If requesed those recordings are made available to you on the video hosting system. Please contact Academic Technology staff for more information.
General Tips
- Quick Help guide of the ITV classroom controller.
- ITV no longer features DVD/Blu-ray players. All media should be played from online video on demand applications. The official video application for 糖心Vlog视频 is Panopto. If you have a DVD or Blu-ray that needs to be played please bring your media to the 糖心Vlog视频 Service Center in the lower level of the library at least 5 muisness days in advance to allow us to make it available for your class.
- If you have not taught in an ITV room before or in a while We reccomend you schedule a training or refresher meeting. Most meetings take about an hour to complete. Academic Techology staff is happy to meet with you at anytime before or durring the semester provided room availability.
- Physical mail takes 2 business days. For more information take a look at our mailing document (docx). between campuses.
- Course materials are best distributed and collected electronically though services such as Canvas. Materials for Antelope Valley can be emailed to avitv@csub.edu where it will be printed and ready for your students. All copies made your Antelope Valley Students that are emailed will be billed to your department. The Bakersfield ITV office does not offer any printing services. Phyiscal materials production, handlouts, and collection at the Bakersfield site must be handled on your own.
- ITV does not feature Whiteboards. Like on Zoom, when you shine a camera on a whiteboard the text offers a high glare making it hard to read. Instead ITV has document cameras that allow you to use a ball point pen, other technology, books, and other physical materials to magnify to the class. A standard sheet of paper is as legable to the class as if you were reading it in your own hands.
- Try and use Large Serif fonts on contrasting backgrounds for your presentations. This makes viewing much easier. We reccomend the ADA contrast requirement of 4.5:1. If you want to check your color contrast you can do so at
- Encourage your students to interrupt your lectures with comments and questions. When looking for raised hands, the distant site(s) often get over looked and students can become disheartened to your course.
- Courses are recordings are now handled by the use of Zoom though desktop capture to the cloud. Inquire with the ITV staff for more information
