Past Honors Program Donors

$1 Million Donation to Our Honors Program

Honors Program was expanded to a four-year program in 1998 when Mrs. Helen Hawk Windes, a local philanthropist, donated one million dollars in support of its activities.

Helen received a B.A and M.A in Journalism from Northwestern University. During her journalistic career, she worked for the Valley Times Newspaper in Hollywood, and she then became an Information Specialist in the United States Air Force. She lived in Bakersfield for 45 years and was an active supporter of many community groups including the Bakersfield symphony and the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Her philanthropic activities were focused on the Arthritis Association, the American Cancer Society, the Haggai Institute, and the Jewel Box Theatre. However, Helen's greatest joy was found in the Hawk Honors Program.

Scholarship Donor

The Marjorie R. Lindsey Charitable Fund

The Marjorie R. Lindsey Charitable Foundation Trust was established with the purpose of providing scholarships for deserving students based upon academic excellence and financial needs. Prior to this gift to 糖心Vlog视频, a scholarship endowment to provide for students on the basis of merit and financial need did not exist. This fund was designated by past President Horace Mitchell to the Helen Louise Hawk Honors Program.
