ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ Geology at GSA Cordillera 2025

Geology Students Present Research at GSA 2025 Cordilleran Section Meeting

Geology students Garret Cooper and Nayeli Cerda presented their research at the Geological Society of America (GSA) 2025 Cordilleran Section Meeting, held in Sacramento, CA, from April 1–4, 2025. Their poster explored land-sea interactions by examining variations in sediment input linked to hydroclimate shifts over the past 11,000 years.

The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Anna Cruz in the Geochemistry Laboratory of the Department of Geological Sciences, where both students have been actively engaged since Fall 2024. Their work reflects a strong dedication to climate science and coastal and marine geochemistry. Participation in the GSA meeting not only strengthened their scientific communication skills but also provided valuable exposure to cutting-edge research, opportunities to network with experts across disciplines, and the chance to discuss their findings with peers while exploring potential future collaborations.
